Halloween White Chocolate Party Pretzel Rods

Whether you're throwing a Halloween party at home ... or you're needing to make goodies for a Halloween social function this year at work or school, these white chocolate-dipped pretzels are sure to please. No tricks here! This is a Halloween party treat that couldn't be simpler to prepare.

With just a few items from the grocery store, you can bring your guests that perfect combination of sweet and salty that they crave. This is a great DIY party favor that even the kiddos can help make. Serve these to your guests at home. Or, take them along to work to share with co-workers.

Of course, the kiddos in your child's classroom would go batty for these fun and festive treats, too.

NOTE: I prefer Wilton White Candy Melts and Wilton Candy Eyeballs for this recipe.

Yields 30 Pretzel Rods.

Ingredients:

30 pretzel rods
2 - 12 oz. bags white candy melts
60 small candy eyeballs
2 ounces black and orange nonpareils
2 ounces shimmer white sugar

Optional -  30 skinny cellophane bags (often labeled as "pretzel rod bags" in the craft section) and Halloween-themed thin ribbon

Directions:

Get all of the supplies for this recipe set up before beginning. Have the eyeballs and sprinkles/glitter opened. Set out plates to catch the décor toppings, for example, during the "sprinkling" process of each pretzel. Have a large piece of parchment paper/wax paper spread out on a table or counter as a cooling area for the dipped pretzels.

Melt the chocolate in a bowl in the microwave (best to work with one package at a time). Heat on 50% power in ten-second intervals, stirring in between. When white chocolate is fully melted and smooth, begin coating two-thirds of each pretzel rod, leaving one end uncoated. (Use a spoon, as needed, to help coat pretzels.) Working quickly, place two eyeballs on each rod into the still-warm chocolate, then sprinkle on the nonpareils and shimmer sugar to coat chocolate.

Allow to cool on parchment/wax paper. Every few pretzels, chocolate will need a quick reheat in the microwave since it does tend to cool down and get too thick as you go along.

Continue coating and decorating each pretzel until all are utilized.

Once fully cooled and hardened, package into cellophane bags or store in an airtight container until service.

NOTE: 1 tablespoon of shortening can be added into the chocolate while melting to help with smoothness and gloss. However, it is not required.
